Green clay

Surfaces covered in green clay, also referred to as “American clay” are by far the favourite surface for most tennis players. This clay is manufactured from a stone call “metabasalt”, which is broken down into fine angled particles giving it hardness once it has been rolled (compacted) and watered. This surface is particularly sensitive to effects, gives excellent ball rebounds, while absorbing shocks, reducing the effect of impact on body joints. It enables the player to move rapidly because of it’s skid texture. Clay surfaces are an excellent choice for our Quebec climate and the ground movements caused by freezing and unfreezing because any depressions that form can easily be repaired. The Family Circle Cup has always been played on clay courts. Recent studies made by the FFT have qualified clay surfaces as “the comfort surface”.

Red clay

Red clay surfaces offer the same advantages as green clay surfaces. Experts believe that clay surfaces provide the best conditions to improve your tennis skills. Red clay surfaces very closely resemble European clay courts. It is this type of surfacing that is used at Roland Garros as well as some major ATP tournaments such as Monte Carlo, Rome and Hambourg. A major advantage of red clay surfacing is that it offers an excellent contrast with the tennis ball, permitting the player to see the ball better and increasing the perception of the game. Clay surfaces, even though they require more upkeep, are very esthetically attractive and are a prestigious trademark for tennis players. Our company can provide you with red clay surfaces from the company “NORTH EAST FAST DRY” as well as American red clay from the company “HAR-TRU”.
